Job Opening – Medical Physicist – Anchorage, AK

Join our Northwest Medical Physics Center (NMPC) clinical team in beautiful Alaska! We have an opening for a board-eligible or board-certified medical physicist (DABR/CCPM) to join two other physicists and a physics resident in covering the main clinic in Anchorage and a satellite.  The opening is due to a staff member leaving to help care for a family member.  Anchorage, with a metropolitan population of 400,000, has numerous opportunities.  Outdoor activities include hiking, fishing, boating, fat-tire biking, and breathtaking vistas.  Cultural activities include adult and youth symphonies, theater with Broadway shows, a Center for the Performing Arts.  Sports include hockey, baseball, rugby, and of course dog sled racing.  Four higher-education facilities, including the University of Alaska, provide additional enrichment.

The technology includes two Elekta Versa linacs, a GammaKnife, and HDR afterloader on the main campus, plus one Elekta linac with 6FFF in a satellite clinic 35 miles away.  The site uses MOSAIQ and all linacs have C-Rad for surface guidance.  The clinic recently switched to RayStation in September and has RadFormation products. Physics equipment also includes access to a catalog of NMPC-owned scanning tanks, motion phantoms, IC profiler, chambers, etc. The contract allows the physicists to assist with other NMPC activities, such as commissioning, if desired.

Ideal candidate education and experience:

  • Board-Certified or Board-Eligible for either the ABR or CCPM
  • Both Masters and PhD applicants are welcome
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Willingness to assist other NMPC clients for commissioning

Responsibilities and essential duties:

  • Full scope of on-site clinical medical physics support

Why join NMPC: We are a non-profit organization comprised of collegial, knowledgeable, and collaborative medical physicists and dosimetrists. NMPC supports a non-academic CAMPEP accredited therapy residency program since 2010.  You will have opportunities to partner with other physicists on projects and commissioning. Per the candidate’s interests, advancement can be attained via volunteering for our many departments. Annually, we hold two chamber-intercomparisons followed by a business meeting and two social meetings to encourage collegiality and collaboration. NMPC benefits include:

  • Salary of $170,000 to $275,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and in accordance with the AAPM salary survey
  • Company-sponsored retirement contributions and additional match program
  • Health/dental/vision insurance with company-supported premiums for all qualifying family members
  • Three weeks of vacation plus an allotment of personal days per year
  • Twelve paid sick days per year
  • Twelve paid holidays per year
  • Professional stipend for meetings and travel
  • Reimbursement for certification and professional membership fees

To Apply: Please send your CV and inquiries to GreatJobs@nmpc.org to join our ever-growing group. Please mention “Alaska” in your communication.
